Join us for an outdoor, interactive, family-friendly eco-performance event to address climate change!
Location: Dovercourt Park at the Campfire Pit, Toronto
Event Tickets: Pay What you Can ($10-25 suggested contribution)
Youth Workshop: Pay What You Can ($5-10 suggested contribution) per participant
Event Details:
-3pm-4:30pm: Community engaged arts workshop for children and youth! Create art installations, costumes and instruments with recycled materials.
-4:30pm-5pm: Climate Ribbon Ritual: http://www.theclimateribbon.org audience members are invited to write what they fear they will lose to climate chaos on a ribbon and put it up on a tree.
-5pm-5:15pm: Kateri Gauthier, Indigenous Earth Worker, will lead a traditional teaching, an opening song and light a sacred fire to send prayers for the Earth
-5:15pm-5:20pm: Toronto choreographer Mika Lior will lead a dance performance with community dancers
-5:20pm-5:30pm: Branch Out Theatre performers will do a reading of one of the Climate Change Theatre Action plays
-5:30pm-6:15pm: Branch Out Theatre performers will do a playback performance to invite folks to share their stories of their love for the earth and their feelings/fears about climate change
-6:15pm-6:35pm: Gideon Forman from David Suzuki Foundation will give a 15-minute talk to inspire audience members to reflect upon actions they can commit to taking and Naomi Tessler, Branch Out Theatre will support audience members in mapping out the next steps to make the action possible
-6:35pm-6:45pm: Naomi Tessler and Branch Out Theatre performers will lead a love-the-Earth sing-along with original and familiar songs
-6:45pm-6:50pm: Closing and Gratitude Offerings
-6:50pm-7pm: Climate Ribbon Ritual Closing: the audience is invited to visit the ribbons the audience members added to the tree and choose a ribbon to take with them so they can reflect on someone else’s fears and care for them.
